Health care can truly be revolutionized with the inclusion of evidence-based biomedical music protocols to assist those with motor, speech, and cognition challenges. A remarkable body of excellent research highlighting these benefits has been published, but these positive outcomes are generally unknown to consumers who would directly benefit from such knowledge, including doctors, patients, and therapists. Insufficient business plan models are available to medical CEOs and university chancellors to justify program expansion for music therapy; therefore, only limited numbers of medical/educational professionals are interested in implementing music in their own regional hospitals, therapy centers, and school systems. This talk will discuss these challenges, and then offer creative pathways to circumvent known roadblocks and bring this knowledge from the upper realms of neuroscience and place it directly into the hands of the consumer. Once societal awareness is raised, greater ease in promoting music in healthcare and education platforms will be established.
