TSR is a cutting edge emergent model in Music Psychotherapy employed at the Louis Armstrong Music Therapy Department and Center for Music & Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, in which an eclectic mix of psychotherapeutic constructs merge with music experiences as medium and facilitator of the therapeutic relationship/alliance to address the difficulties faced by the fragile population of people receiving care for cancer. TSR is used to moderate symptomatology resulting from disease as well as treatment itself, both of which can contribute to potentially overwhelming illness/treatment burden and debilitating medically induced emotional trauma. This workshop will present the TRS model and elucidate its theoretical basis and clinical application in cancer patients receiving radiation therapy and chemotherapy.
