Dr. Andrew Rossetti is an internationally-minded scholar who has a strong commitment to helping grow the fields of music & medicine and music therapy in both developing and cutting-edge contexts. Through lectures, conferences, and consultation work he has helped implement programs in numerous countries in Europe, Asia, South America, and the US. He has served as executive secretary of the IAMM for the past term. Andrew is committed to providing a platform for new voices as well as safeguarding the work upon whose shoulders we build. It is with this idea that he initiated and co-chaired the first titled IAMM ethics committee.
Dr. Rossetti is devoted to the mission of IAMM which involves integrating medical care with music care for those in need. In his drive for inclusivity, he has started programs in NICU, Acute In-patient Psychiatric Care, and Oncology. Andrew has held clinical practice in Spain and speaks fluent Spanish and Catalan. He is a widely published researcher and has developed dedicated music therapy protocols in Cancer and Trauma. He is the Director of music therapy cancer programs at the Louis Armstrong Center for Music & Medicine in the Mount Sinai Health system in New York City. He has trained music therapists, interns, medical students and others in music psychotherapy. Dr. Andrew Rossetti is a creative and dedicated music therapist who has served clients and colleagues. He is also a professional musician whose guitar skills remain fluid in classical and jazz idioms.

Mark Ettenberger, PhD, MA, MT

Mark is an Ethno-Music therapist trained in Austria and obtained his PhD in Music Therapy from Anglia Ruskin University, UK. He specialized in neonatal music therapy (RBL - Rhythm, Breath, Lullaby) at the Louis Armstrong Center for Music & Medicine in New York and holds a M.A. in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from the UNESCO Chair of Philosophy for Peace, University Jaume I, Spain. He currently lives and works in Bogotá, Colombia, where he is the director of SONO – Centro de Musicoterapia (www.sono.la) and a university lecturer at various music therapy programs internationally. He coordinates the music therapy services at several hospitals in Colombia and has a specific interest in researching music-based interventions and therapies in medical settings.

Antonio Diroma, MD

Dr. Antonio Diroma is a physician specialized in Radiation Oncology and Palliative Care, currently serving as Head of Research and Clinical Innovation at Fondazione Sanità e Ricerca (FSR), a non-profit organization operating in the socio-healthcare sector. Based in Rome, FSR was the first institution in Central-Southern Italy to establish a hospice facility, inaugurated in 1998 through the initiative of Fondazione Roma.
He graduated with honors from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, and is completing a second-level degree (Master’s equivalent) in Music Pedagogy with a specialization in instrumental teaching (piano), while actively performing as a classically trained pianist.
His research explores the integration of music and embodied cognition in end-of-life communication, and has been shared through invited talks and contributions at international conferences and academic symposia.
He collaborates with the Italian National Institute of Health (ISS) and teaches in several postgraduate programs, focusing on the role of music in clinical and educational palliative care.
Committed to IAMM’s interdisciplinary mission, he contributes to artistic and psychosocial research in music and medicine, and is currently preparing a doctoral project to further expand his academic and international engagement.

Jennifer Townsend, MMT- MT-BC
Jennifer Townsend is a board-certified music therapist and the Manager of Creative Arts Therapies at Houston Methodist in Texas. Her passion for the intersection of music and health began in adolescence and has driven a career marked by clinical innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and advocacy. Jennifer holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Sam Houston State University and a master’s degree from Temple University.
Her early work focused on pediatric patients with disorders of consciousness, later expanding to adult medical populations across intensive care, palliative, and psychiatric settings. At Houston Methodist, she leads the development and oversight of a growing team of creative arts therapists, with emphasis on evidence-based practice, clinical supervision, and outcomes-focused research. Her work integrates emerging technologies and neuroscience to advance the role of the arts in healthcare.
A frequent speaker at national and international conferences, Jennifer is also a published author and dedicated advocate. She contributes to multiple professional boards, committees, and legislative task forces to champion the role of music and arts in health and medicine.
