About the Congress
The joint congress of the International Association for Music and Medicine (IAMM) and the International Society for Arts and Medicine (ISfAM), entitled “The Future of Music and Arts in Medicine and Health” will take place in Berlin, Germany, and online, September 18 - 21, 2024. The event will bring together medical and artistic experts, researchers, practitioners, and students from around the world, offering opportunities for collaboration and networking across continents and disciplines.
About the Organizers
The International Association for Music and Medicine is a registered non-profit organisation formed in 2009 to encourage and support the use of music in medical contexts including research into the benefits of music and its specialised applications in healthcare.
Established in 2023, the International Society for Arts and Medicine (ISfAM) unites scientists, medical professionals, artists, therapists, and enthusiasts to emphasize the crucial link between arts and medicine, fostering health through various artistic forms.

Note that if you are a selected speaker, you must either attend the live conference in Berlin or register for the online conference. Please read and follow the instructions below to submit your abstract online.
Abstract Submission Instruction
All late-breaking abstracts should be submitted online through our abstract submission platform. All submissions are due on or before June 30, 2024. Proposals will include (1) name of author(s), (2) affiliation and city, and (3) a max 250 word abstract.

Once you set up an account, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. Please check your email to activate your account. After activating your account, please click the link below to fill out the submission form.

- Please fill in the full name of the authors. When there are multiple authors, please indicate the main presenter. Fill in your affiliation, city, and country.
- When you have completed the form, click the "Submit" button. Please note that after you submit your abstract, you can no longer edit it.
- Step 3 Confirmation of submission
After submitting your abstract, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. (The confirmation email may end up in your spam folder. Please also check there.)

General Information on Abstract Submission
- Please submit your abstract by January 31, 2024.
- Length for abstracts: Max. 250 words
- All abstracts should be submitted and presented in English.
- Please submit abstracts on the above-mentioned and related topics.
- Abstract should include important information including background, aim, method, results, and conclusion, as applicable.
Abstract Review and Selection
- All abstracts will be blinded for review.
- Abstracts will be reviewed and rated by a team of reviewers from the Scientific Committee of the Congress.
- Authors will be informed via email of the acceptance or rejection of their abstracts by March 20, 2024.
- All authors who are selected to present need to register for the congress.
FAQ
The event will be held from September 18 - 21, 2024, both in Berlin, Germany, and online.
The congress fee for in-person participation includes access to all congress events from September 18th to September 21st with the exception of the social evening. It also includes lunch and coffee on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, as well as sandwiches on Wednesday evening and a welcome reception with finger food and sparkling wine on Thursday evening.
The congress fee for online participation includes remote access to all congress events except the in-person poster presentations and the social evening.
All congress fees include access for 2 years to recordings of the congress events.
You do not need to attend the Congress in person in order to present. You also have the option to present online.
We prefer for online presenters to deliver their presentation in “real time” to encourage interaction. If you are worried about being scheduled at an inconvenient time for you, let us know and we will try our best to accommodate your preferred time. If no other option is possible, we can accommodate you sending a pre-recorded video.
An oral presentation at the IAMM and ISfAM Congress in Berlin lasts 10 minutes for content delivery followed by a 5-minute discussion, allowing for an in-depth exploration of research. In contrast, posters will be displayed and groups will be organized to visit posters and hear 3-minute presentations from authors. They emphasize concise visual communication with brief, one-on-one discussions during dedicated sessions.

No, abstracts cannot be edited after submission, so please review your submission carefully before submitting.
Yes, all selected speakers must register for the congress, either for in-person attendance in Berlin or for remote participation.

No. You do not have to be a member to register for the conference. However, IAMM and ISfAM members enjoy many benefits, including a signficant discount for the registration fees.

Each participant of the conference will register and pay respective registration fees as an individual.
No. When you register for the Congress, you will register for the entire period from September 18 to 21, 2024.
Once you register for the Congress, you do not need to sign up for individual sessions or events in advance.
You will receive confirmation that you paid for the Congress upon request. Additionally, a congress attendance certificate will be issued upon check-in at the congress venue for in-person participants.
Congress sessions will be recorded and available for viewing by paid congress registrants on demand after the Congress.
You will be informed about schedule changes.

Yes, we will have a social evening on Friday, September 20. This will be an entertaining and casual evening in exciting surroundings, within walking distance of the congress location. The evening offers an opportunity for informal exchange, framed by artistic activities. The price of 40 Euros includes food from the buffet and non-alcoholic drinks. You will be asked if you want to participate in the registration process.
All sessions will be in English. We are exploring the possibility of translation but cannot ensure this at the moment.
